We believe that meaningful change happens through relationships, communities and collective action. However you choose to connect with us, you become part of a shared vision: helping people to help themselves through the power of human connection.

Counsellors

Interested in working at Connections?

We believe counselling should be more accessible, connected and reflective of the values it seeks to promote. Any surplus generated is reinvested back into increasing access to counselling and developing the organisation for the benefit of clients and counsellors alike. Our work is guided by our core values.

We are building a counselling community where practitioners can feel supported, connected and valued. We welcome counsellors from a range of modalities who share our commitment to ethical, relational and accessible counselling.

The Wider Connections Community

Connections operates as a lean, not-for-profit, Community Interest Company (CIC), investing all surplus back into our Community Rate fund. This gives people access to support who are otherwise unable to. In order for this to work, we also seek connection with people who want to help us help people. This can be anyone, this could be you. There are three other ways that you can help us to help others: As a Custodian, Contributor and Champion.

Become a Custodian (Trustee)

Community Custodians (Trustees) help guide and safeguard the future of Connections. Working alongside the leadership team, they provide oversight, accountability and strategic support, helping ensure that our values, purpose and community benefit remain at the heart of everything we do. You do not need to be a counsellor to become a Custodian. We welcome people with a range of skills, experiences and perspectives who share our values.

Custodians

Community Custodians

Become a Trustee of Connections

Connections Counselling CIC was created from lived experience, from recognising both the value of human connection and the barriers that can prevent people from accessing support when they need it most. As Connections grows, we are looking to build a small board of Custodians (Trustees) who can help guide and support the organisation into the future. While experience in areas such as fundraising, governance, finance or mental health can be helpful, these are not the qualities we value most highly.

What interests us most are people with a story to tell.

People who have faced adversity, loss, challenge or significant life experiences and have found meaning, wisdom or perspective through those experiences. People who understand something about what it means to struggle, to grow and to reconnect with themselves, others or the world around them.

Many of the people who inspire us are not necessarily professionals or experts. They are ordinary people who have lived extraordinary journeys and are willing to bring that experience into service of something larger than themselves. As a Custodian, you would help safeguard the purpose and values of Connections, offering perspective, encouragement and thoughtful challenge as we continue to develop. The commitment is relatively light, typically involving quarterly meetings and occasional conversations between them.

You do not need previous trustee experience. You do not need to have all the answers. What matters most is a willingness to engage, reflect and contribute to a shared vision of making counselling more accessible to those who need it. If this resonates with you, we would love to have an informal conversation. There is no formal application process at this stage, simply an opportunity to connect and explore whether there may be a good fit.

Sometimes the most valuable thing a person can bring is not a qualification, but their story.

If this is you, lets talk: hello@connectionscounselling.co.uk

Become a Contributor

(Donator)

Community Contributors help make counselling accessible to those who may otherwise be unable to afford support. Through one-off or regular financial contributions, they help fund counselling sessions, community projects and the continued development of Connections. Every contribution, regardless of size, helps create opportunities for people to access support when they need it most.

Become a Champion

(Supporter)

Community Champions help Connections grow through advocacy, encouragement and raising awareness. Whether by sharing our work, introducing people to Connections, supporting events or simply helping spread the word, Champions play an important role in strengthening our community. You do not need specialist skills or experience, only a belief in what we are trying to achieve and a willingness to help others discover it.

Champions

Community Champions

Become a supporter of Connections

Not everyone wants to be a counsellor, trustee or donor. Sometimes people simply want to help. Champions are people who believe in what Connections is trying to achieve and are willing to help us spread the word. They help ensure that people who may be struggling, seeking change, or looking for support know that our door is open.

Being a Champion does not require any special qualifications, training or commitment. If you tell someone about Connections, share one of our posts, display a poster, distribute flyers or encourage someone to reach out for support, you are already acting as a Champion.

Some Champions may choose to become more involved by volunteering at events, helping with fundraising activities, supporting awareness campaigns or offering practical assistance when opportunities arise. Others may simply share our message from time to time. Both are equally valued.

At Connections, we believe that small actions can have a significant impact. A conversation, recommendation or shared post can sometimes be the very thing that helps someone take their next step. You do not need permission to become a Champion. If our values resonate with you and you believe in making counselling more accessible, you already are one.

If you would like to stay connected, hear about future opportunities to volunteer or support events, you are welcome to leave your details with us. We will only contact you when there is a genuine opportunity to get involved. Every movement begins with people who care enough to share it with others. By becoming a Champion, you help create more opportunities for connection, growth and support within our communities. Let us know at hello@connectionscounselling.co.uk
